Supplies for Forward-thinking Fashion/Jewelry Designers
My students need a dress form and jewelry stands to work on fashion design projects and to provide a way to display their amazing creations for art contests/competitions.
During the school day I see a wide range of students and talent in art. I believe everyone can create and I encourage students to take risks, explore and learn to be comfortable in the art making process.
My students are dedicated, diligent and creative individuals.
They make my profession rewarding and I truly enjoy seeing what they create each day. Having these talented students has inspired me as an educator and as an artist. Being able to help my students find a path and create a voice in art is an honor. These students that are inspired by costume, jewelry and fashion already know what path in art they want to take, they just need the materials and opportunity to create.
My Project
I currently teach six different art courses at our high school. Several students in my advanced courses (Art II, III and IV) have expressed interest in making jewelry, costume design and fashion. Last year my school district abolished the sewing courses and the art department received some of the supplies. What we do not have is a way to display amazing pieces we have created for art contests and competitions such as the Scholastic Art Competition and the Ohio Governor's Show. Most important I have students that are creating fashion designs and are in need of a dress form to work on.
Donating to this project will inspire future jewelry, costume and fashion designers.
Providing the materials needed will give my students a way to display and work on their pieces in a professional manner. Entering into these art contests and competitions provides opportunities for recognition and scholarships. These materials can not only be used this school year but well into the future.
