As a special education teacher in a low socioeconomic Title I school, all the students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of 13 students. My kids are faced with many challenges in and outside the classroom. They are academically two years below grade level. Many of my students come from single parent homes. Although my kids have varying disabilities (LD, Autism, ED and Mentally Handicapped), they are eager to learn and succeed. I want to provide an atmosphere that is safe, and welcoming. Help me engage and inspire my students by becoming a partner in their learning.
My Project
Everyday classroom supplies are needed for my students.
My class is in need of pens, pencils, markers, pencil sharpener, paper, folders and baby wipes.
These supplies are essential for the academic success of my students. Since most of the parents of my students do not send in everyday supplies it is left to the teacher to provide these supplies.
Pencils are used everyday for all activities.
Yellow notepads are used for their draft writing, pens are used for editing their writing, white out to correct errors, and plastic folders are more durable and are used for their homework folder.
We need a durable pencil sharpener since it gets lots of use.
Since many of our students are homeless they rarely attend school with basic supplies. Lets provide our kids with everything they need for success.
Baby wipes are used throughout the day and they love to use them on their face because they feel fresh and clean.
I also would use pencils and pens as a re-enforcer; they love when they accomplish a task and a fancy pencil or pen are used for a reward.
