This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hi, my name is Sarah and I'm a second year Art Teacher a Title I Elementary school located in Brunswick, Ga. We are right at 500 students and 96% of our school population receives free and reduced lunch. Our students are wonderful, thoughtful, and generous kids who are hungry for knowledge and new experiences. The students look forward to Art class and are always curious what new materials or supplies they will get to create their artwork.
In our county, as in many others, the Art program does not currently have a budget.
We use lots of paint, markers, and various types of paper for our projects and collages. Our students love to create with these materials, and often don't have access to these supplies at home. I try to create lessons that teach students about art history and incorporate these materials into their projects as much as possible. I'm asking that you please consider donating to this wonderful cause and support our students in their Art education!
My Project
Students will be able to work on and refine their fine motor skills required in using the Kwik Sticks paint sticks. We mostly use the basic 8 color washable markers, and I feel confident that these bright color markers will be a big hit with the kids for many multi media projects! My students love to trace and create their own coloring pages. The tracing paper would allow students to expand on their tracing skills and combine multiple images into one. And finally, my students constantly beg me for glitter, loose glitter can be quite a mess to clean up. I have found that allowing students to use glitter paint is much easier and the students love the finished products!
