Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
People often think that because I teach in the inner city, my job must somehow be harder than that of other teachers or even dangerous. In fact, I am lucky to have the job I have. My job is not hard to me - because I love what I do and I consider it an honor to work with the children I get to work with.
My kids are bright and vibrant and fun and want so much to learn and succeed!
I have a fabulous group of hard-working, grateful students! They are an energetic and lively bunch that are polite and well mannered and are super eager to come to school each day. They work hard at what they do and it shows in their work. Unfortunately, although they deserve what other kids have, they often don't get what they should or have what they need.
My Project
My kids don't ask for much and are grateful for whatever they get from others. And they are more than deserving of the things that others often take for granted. I am asking for colored pencils, crayons and paper for my class. These basic supplies are used on a daily basis in our classroom, but only a limited supply of them is available. It is hard to imagine a first grade classroom without the colors and uniqueness of student work plastered on the walls.
Just a few basic items will go a very long way in helping my babies have a great year in first grade!
