Supplies for a Split Classroom

My students need school supplies and classroom materials to help us learn in an organized, clean, and comfortable community. In order to do this, we will need, markers, white boards, paper, pencils, cleaning supplies, books, etc.

My Students

My students are a very energetic and outspoken group of preteens. They are constantly teaching me things about their cultures, ethnicities, and traditions. In my classroom alone, I have students from Iraq, Mexico, Samoa, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Afghanistan, Chuuk, and Kenya. There are also a few Native American students. Nearly all of my students speak a language other than English.

This group of 3rd and 4th Graders are excited to read books that relate to their own background and interests.

My students want to gain hope and inspiration. They want to read stories about kids that overcome obstacles similar to the ones that they face everyday in our community. Although my students know that the odds of success are not in their favor, they work hard every day to prove that they will not become a statistic. And they never forget to make learning fun!

My Project

I am requesting some basic schools supplies that students showed a need for this past year. Some of these supplies include, white boards, Clorox wipes, markers, poster paper, notebooks, and pencils.

In our Title I school, students have utilized the simplest of supplies by coming up with new ways of using them.

My job is provide them with options of materials. For example, I have several students that prefer to take notes with a white board marker and white board; while others flourish by using a notebook and pencil. I want students to be able to choose what works for them and not have to worry about being forced to use something that does not work for them.

Because our school building is fairly old, we are constantly looking to find new ways to make it look and feel more appealing us. We are in need of art supplies and cleaning supplies to make this happen. Anything would be helpful to our classroom and all of my students. Help us use our creativity to make our classroom a more comfortable place!
