My Students

My class consists of a linguistically, racially, and culturally diverse group of students third graders. The majority of students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Like young people all over the world, they are still recovering from a year and a half of pandemic learning, but they love being in person with their friends and teachers.

They are kindhearted students who give each other shout outs and are interested in topics of identity, justice, and health.

My Project

This year, we have not had a regular custodial staff. The staff that we have are stretched thin and really only able to remove garbage from our classroom, clean restrooms, and keep our cafeteria going. Often our floors are not mopped, and our class rug is rarely vacuumed, and we disinfect surfaces ourselves.

Although we have a broom and dust pan and sweep daily, we are in need of a vacuum for our rug, a high quality broom, and other supplies to clean surfaces.

As we keep our fingers crossed for regular facilities staff, these supplies would really help us keep the classroom clean and minimize the germs on surfaces!
