I am a fourth-grade teacher in an inner-city school in Massachusetts. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with one hundred percent of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the city where students speak a multitude of languages. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn and excited for what is in store for them that day.
Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
Do you know what it's like to start the first day of school without learning materials? Well, I am determined not to have my students experience this awful feeling this year. Most of my students come from low-income households are are unable to acquire supplies on their own. Therefore, I am requesting items to help provide them with a successful start to the school year. The materials that I am requesting will help us keep their home away from home clean so they can focus on learning.
I am requesting funding for cleaning supplies so that my students and I can take care of our classroom and make sure that it is a healthy environment for learning.
Your donation will help me keep the classroom clean and my students healthy so that they can spend their day learning instead of sneezing and coughing due to a cold.
