Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Are you ready, Tigers?" is what I always ask my 3rd-grade reading and writing students every day. They always answer with a resounding "Yes!" as they enter my class.

My school has a high number of students who were affected by the recent hurricanes, Irma and Maria, as we have just started welcoming students coming from homes that were affected by Hurricane Maria.

This resulted in basic amenities that they need to prosper being not readily available to them.

Even though we have adapt to such a wide range of learning needs, we know that all children will learn if given the right tools and technology (and teachers who care). As their teacher, my main objective is to enhance and improve their young learning experiences.

My Project

We are requesting need one Dell Chromebook, privacy shields, and two Dry Erase Board Class Packs. Our third-grade classroom needs one more Dell Chromebook for our Math and Science Center. If this project is funded, our students will be able to work in groups of five and group rotations would be easier.

Also, with the privacy partitions, students would be able to study, test and work without distractions and most importantly-independently.

Currently, we use textbooks upright for partitions, which are not very effective, to say the least. In terms of individual work, my students are limited because most do not come to school with math journals or paper to write/work on. The whiteboards and markers would eliminate this problem, not to mention, save the trees!
