This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of first graders in a Title One school. They are each unique with different learning styles and interests. Despite their differences, they come to school each day with open minds and open hearts and are ready to tackle the day.
Their passion for learning and the desire to do well is what makes them so phenomenal.
My students are thinkers. They persevere and support each other when learning new concepts. They build each other up. They feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. These students have built relationships with not only me, but with each other. In our classroom, we are like a family. We laugh together, grow together and they encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
My Project
My first graders love to learn! We are a balanced calendar school so the students are officially back to school. Their bright eyes and huge smiles lit up the classroom as they entered, but there are a few things missing. My students would love to have the basic supplies that are needed to start the year on a positive note. It's those small things that keep a classroom running smoothly and efficiently. Without the basic necessities, it is sometimes hard to keep moving along.
It is important to have all of the "little things" you need in an elementary classroom to make learning exciting.
For instance, we are out of pencils, crayons, construction paper and snacks. Having these materials would be important in every subject area. They would allow us to complete projects and interactive notebooks. The snacks will keep their bellies from rumbling as they are completing activities. Without the basics, it is often hard to complete lessons or finish projects. My students want to learn and by having the requested items, they will do just that! Thanks a million for your love and support of our first grade classroom.
