This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing, marvelous and challenging on many levels. They come to school excited, eager to experience an exciting lesson. I often refer to them jokingly as “challenging customers” that refuse to accept second best. As I try my best to provide an excellent customer service to my clientele, I find that it is never enough to just teach.
It is a journey to discover how best to serve every single one of my students and get them ready for college and for life, and I am enjoying the ride.
Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success. As I observe them interact with one another, enthused in a lesson, I regain my conviction that a future is possible and achievable for all my students.
My Project
In the classroom, my students currently use folders and notebooks to hold their written works and notes. Unfortunately, the folders and notebooks we have are beginning to rip and tear apart, so we need new more durable folders.
By donating to our project you will not only help us continue on our academic journey, you will help us stay organized.
Help me give my students spiral notebooks and folders to continue learning and becoming organized citizens of our classroom. Having access to a place to store and keep notes allows them to grow and readily have the knowledge they obtain in class be accessible
