Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a primary ESOL teacher who works with an awesome group of students with language needs.
My students are my babies and I enjoy watching them grow and excel each and everyday.
I teach at a Title I school where over 90% of the students speak Spanish as their first language. My students work very hard to complete daily tasks. I am proud of them and all of their achievements that they strive to achieve on a daily basis. It is my hope to provide my students with supplemental materials that will enhance language development.
My Project
Our Kindergarten ESOL students are now developing love for reading. As they start gaining confidence in reading basic sight words, their excitement towards reading book is rapidly increasing. The Kindergarten general education teachers and myself see the need of providing these students with a classroom library rich with Multicultural and Bilingual books. These materials will provide them an opportunity to see the words they learned in context and this will help them develop reading comprehension. Please help us have more multilingual and bilingual books in addition to what we have and make a difference in the lives of our young ESOL students. Thank you!
