My students need basic school supplies like markers, glue, cardstock, file folders, tape, etc. in our classroom to work on academic goals and to be successful in the classroom.
The students in my classroom vary from grades K-4th grade. They all receive special education services to support them in the general education classroom. We work on specific goals that make each student successful in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Most of the students from our school come from poverty and need supports from the school to be sent home to help them grow as life long learners.
All of my students require extra supports and services to be successful at school and to grow as learners.
My Project
My students come to the resource room excited to work on targeted activities specific to their learning needs. It takes a lot of individualized planning and materials to instruct each student and to make a program for them to be successful.
Since my students come to my resource room from their own general education classroom, I do not get any items donated to my room by parents since they are already donating to their full time classroom.
And even then, most classrooms are not getting a lot of classroom supplies at the beginning of the year from families so they don't have any to share with our resource room.
Specifically my room uses a lot of glue, dry erase markers, and highlighters because they help students with individual projects, interactive notebooks, and can help emphasize key areas that they are focusing on.
