I teach 20 wonderful students in a Title 1 school. This means that the majority of my students are living in poverty, and do not have the means that other students may have. My students are energetic, always willing to participate, and are excited by Science projects. They are also amazing writers, who are working on studying authors and developing their craft! We recently studies Mo Willems and the students are having so much fun writing their own Piggie and Gerald books!
My Project
My students love writing their stories! They reference their real life and use strategies from authors that they are studying. My students are so bright, but they need sharpened pencils to be able to do their best work. Believe it or not, our classroom did not come with a pencil sharpener. I have had to use my own money for a temporary sharpener, but it just isn't cutting it for us! We would also love to have clipboards so we could not be restricted to writing at our desks.
I encourage my students to be creative and follow their own writing process.
But they need to have the option of writing in another place in the classroom to be able to follow that goal. That is why I am requesting clipboards so they can use other spaces in the room to perfect their craft!
As for the dry erase sleeves, these would be so useful for math workshop. I introduce new games to reinforce math concepts, and it would be so helpful to have the sleeves to not waste paper and be more environmentally conscious.
