My students need these bean bag chairs for some flexible seating options during independent work time and also for quiet reading time at the end of our day.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students come from very low socioeconomic homes and some have difficulty getting to school. I have a wide range of students in my class. Several have ADHD/ADD, some are on the autism spectrum, some with emotional disabilities that see our school counselor on a weekly basis, and several resource students. I also work with behavior issues on a daily basis from two or three students. The majority of students in my class struggle with most math concepts and read between a higher third-grade level and low fifth-grade level.
90 percent of my class are of Hispanic backgrounds with most parents not finishing high school.
The majority of my students come from single parent or only one working parent households.
The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among my students. I received a $400 budget in August for classroom supplies, but that money was gone by Christmas. So far this year, I have spent over $1,000 of my own money to make sure my students have the necessary supplies and rewards that they deserve.
My Project
The bean bag chairs I am requesting for my class will be used in our library for quiet reading time at the end of our day. They will also be used during independent work time for a quiet place to get away from the hustle and bustle that is sometimes our classroom.
These Super Student Chairs will be used as a reward for those students who have been on task and working hard throughout the day for our quiet reading time and independent work time.
I will use my random selection sticks to choose the students who will be using our Super Student Chairs. These will be a great motivational tool for students who don't always get to do what the other students are doing due to behaviors or not turning in their work.
