The biggest challenge in Kindergarten is to teach in a way that makes learning fun. I am helping to spark the excitement of learning in a school setting for the first time for many of my students. My students are five and six year olds attending a neighborhood school in the suburbs of Salt Lake City. Many of my students have not been to preschool. Many of my students have never been exposed to STEM materials or activities.
I am excited to expose my students to STEM materials that are hands on!
Kindergarten students are eager to build and learn how things work. I want them to have opportunities at school to explore being problem solvers in a fun way.
My Project
I am requesting giant magnetic insects. What five year old wouldn't love to create their own giant magnetic insect? I want my students to get excited about STEM! I am requesting STEM kits for creating mazes, ramps, and things that move. These materials will encourage my students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers.
I know my Kindergarteners will love making designs with the giant foam magnetic tangrams I have requested.
I am excited for them to see plants growing in our classroom windows with the plant growing kits I have requested. I want my students to have fun putting together the giant skeleton puzzle or using bean bags to learn about numbers and math.
