Super STEM Fridays

Help me give my students the items they need to start thinking outside the box to become little engineers inside our second grade classroom. All materials such as craft sticks and clothespins will be used by students for STEM challenges throughout the year.

My Students

In August, 23 Second Grade Superheros will enter the classroom nervous and excited about the year to come. In our school they are the "big guys," our Top Bearcats, and it is my job to prepare them for what lies ahead of them in middle school the following year. They are so eager to learn and socialize with one another, and I love this about this age of students. It's time to start some hands-on creative thinking inside our classroom.

My Project

These materials will help my students become students who are able to work together and think outside the box to complete a task given to them.

This project will help reach all types of learners through various hands-on challenges.

They will be given a challenge on Fridays that they need to complete with their group in a certain amount of time. For example, students will build a "Look Out Tower" with craft sticks and clothes pins. The group with the tallest tower in the allotted time will be that weeks winner of Super STEM Fridays, thinking outside the box.
