My Kindergarten students are enthusiastic, curious and eager to explore the world through books and hands-on activities. The majority of my students are eligible for free or reduced lunch and kindergarten is their first experience in school. My students come from diverse backgrounds and their English language levels range from Beginning to Advanced.
My kindergarten students are brimming with excitement when they are learning about science; making observations about the weather, designing ramps for toy cars or learning about the parts of trees.
They look forward to the time we spend learning and then sharing classwork on bulletin boards or in science notebooks. Science time is an important part of our day and provides an opportunity for students to develop a strong foundation in the Next Generation Science standards.
My Kindergarten students will engage in project based learning lessons and activities that use materials from the STEM center and light box.
Students will explore concepts such as forces and motion by building, designing and creating models using hands-on materials.
Ramps, structures, and containers will be built using the STEM center resources. Students can explore and investigate features of objects while using the light table.
The light table and STEM center resources will be used as a center for students to explore on a daily basis and to increase their knowledge in the areas of math and science.
With these resources, my Kindergarten students will continue to develop their curiosity and knowledge in the foundational skills of math and science. I want to continue to help nurture their enthusiasm and I know a light table would be an awesome addition to our classroom. They will love it!
