My classroom holds a family. We learn each other's strengths, passions, ideas and dreams. They enjoy working together, encouraging and supporting, and helping each to grow to their full potential. Our plan is to be together for two years. I will remain their teacher and take them to the next grade level. Our relationships run deep.
We seek to learn, connect and embrace the adventure of education.
We begin our days with songs, morning meetings and relationship building activities. Students are encouraged to be curious and creative. They are supported and challenged. They will read, and be read to. They will have time to explore and collaborate. They are an excited group of learners and have already started to set goals.
Our school is in the midst of a small rural town in Florida. All our students travel to school by car or bus. Our school focuses on engagement, rigor, creativity and building relationships. We have a STEM class for intermediate learners. Our school has multiple classrooms in levels Pre-K through 5th grade.
My Project
It is my goal to teach my students skills related to money and economics. I want my students to be able to identify and count money. However, it is also my goal for my students to be financially responsible. I believe focusing on these skills at a young age will help them throughout their lifetime.
Student engagement is what we need most when teaching any and all concepts.
I will use Nearpod and Flocabulary to engage students and motivate them to focus on each lesson. Students love to interact on their iPad with the tools Nearpod provides. Every child is immersed in the lesson and are interactively taking part throughout the lessons. I can use financial literacy lessons provided in the Nearpod library and I can also build my own lessons based on the books requested in this project. Flocabulary is another tool that engages students through music. Students will learn the importance of saving and responsible spending. I will use this subscription to teach coins, money and economics as well.
Students who are engaged will learn. By using these materials I can help my students to be super spenders and savers and provide them with a better future.
