Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade in an urban city. My students come from homes with single parents and/or grandparents raising them. My families struggle to obtain basic necessities. Education, for some, is not a priority.
My students respond to hands on activities. They love science experiments where they predict and witness the outcomes. My students enjoy science the most out of any other subject because they are active participants.
My students would love to have a class pet! Just think of how excited they will be! I would love my students to witness the life cycle and habitat of reptiles. My students will be able to observe and apply what they learn about the reptiles to their curriculum about animals and their habitats.
Your donation will be able to provide class pets, shelter, and food to my class. My students will be excited to learn about animals and habitats because they will have one to observe in the class. They will be able to journal and document their observations and use their hands on knowledge towards their science curriculum. You will make a huge impact on 23 students; just think about how excited they will be to come to school and watch their reptiles. They will not only learn about habitats, they will learn about responsibilities (feeding the reptiles), developing their writing and reading (journaling and sharing their observations), and so much more!
