My Students

My students are truly the nicest kids you could ever meet. Despite any obstacle my students may face they come to school eager to learn each and every single day. Our school is truly the most diverse school I have ever seen. I have children that come from many different cultures, languages, religions, abilities and socio-economic statuses. I strive to make my classroom a happy and welcoming place that shows them that all people can work, learn and grow together.

My Project

These materials will help make for a Super Solar System unit for my fifth graders! They will be able to see a model of the planets and watch them orbit! They will have a poster about each planet and play a fun solar system game. They will even have a weather forecast tool which displays the phases of the moon! Finally, they will be able to have a globe in our classroom which will help students to learn about orbit, rotation and axis. They will be able to determine relative sizes of their country, city and state. They will then be able to use their Solar System model to compare their planet to the other planets.
