Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"College is not just a dream, it is our plan!" This motto is a continual reminder of the goal my students have set for themselves as they exhibit the determination, perseverance, and mindset to reach for their dreams on a daily basis. They are a constant reminder of why we become teachers!
Many of my students will be the first in their families not only to graduate from college but to attend.
A majority of my students have English as a second language, limited resources in their home environment, and daily challenges that many of us never encounter. Despite the challenges they face, my students are dedicated and motivated to succeed. Our kiddos are a true inspiration to individuals who have the opportunity to encounter them.
Nearly 98% of my students come from low-income families and encounter difficult home situations. I want to provide the most comprehensive learning environment possible, and this includes a classroom that encompasses organization and the tools that needed to ensure success.
My Project
I am requesting snacks for my students. Due to the circumstances of COVID and the adjustments we have made in the classroom, we are no longer able to share snacks among students. Many of my students do not have a daily snack provided. I would like to ensure every student has a snack during our brain break time. We have a popcorn machine at our school, so I would love the opportunity to pop popcorn and make trail mix as a snack during brain breaks.
Since our lunch is at 11:30 a.m., many of my students need a snack later in the day as they are typically hungry by the afternoon.
We have designated time in our daily schedule to have a break and a snack. I would love the opportunity to have additional snacks readily available in my classroom for those who are unable to bring one.
