My students need composition books, colored pencils, glue sticks, crayons and more to complete our interactive notebooks in class! These supplies will help them find academic success, and prepare them for their futures!
Access to necessary materials is something that is crucial in helping my students find success, and close their skill gaps! My school is very diverse and located in a low socioeconomic area in Northern Virginia. A large majority of our students receive free/reduced lunch, and come from various cultural backgrounds. Many of my students have limited access to school supplies.
I am the proud teacher of a group of amazing sixth graders who just so happen to have various learning disabilities.
Every day my students arrive eager to learn and ready to take on the day. Math and science can be challenging for many learners, but my students meet that challenge head on!
I want to ensure my students are set up for success by giving them access to various school supplies that their families may be unable to provide for them. As a special education teacher it is my job to ensure my students find success in the school setting. However, it is my goal to ensure they become prepared to join the word following their time with me. We have minimal funding for our classrooms, and it is rarely spent on classroom supplies. We would love your support!!
My Project
Interactive notebooks are an engaging way to reinforce curriculum material. My students thrive when they are given hands-on tasks to help them practice and improve their skills. The students in my class all have some form of learning disability. Their unique learning styles and abilities make it crucial for them to have the supplies needed for class in order to be successful!
Many of my students' families are unable to provide them with the classroom supplies needed for the year.
These supplies will help not only help my students improve their academic skills, but will allow them to experience and practice preparedness!
In order to complete these hands-on learning activities, my students need access to the materials. They need composition books to store the activities in, glue to secure them, and various coloring supplies to complete the activities. Things like highlighters, colored pencils, crayons, and markers help bring their learning to life. These items also assist in building crucial school skills such as highlighting important information, and organizing information through color coding. Interactive notebooks help my students retain and review important curriculum information. The activities also provide students the opportunity to practice skills that will be used far beyond the walls of our classroom!
