I teach kindergarten in a suburb of a large city in Missouri. We are a National Blue Ribbon School, a National School of Character and a Missouri Gold Star School. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. It doesn't matter what they have experienced the first five years of their lives before coming to school because all children are the same in that they love learning! They love being active, engaged participants in their learning.
Kindergarten is a magical age in which everything is exciting to students.
I am blessed that I get to be their very first elementary teacher!
My Project
I am going to teach second grade next school year after teaching kindergarten for 9 years. I would like to have leveled books that are appropriate for my second graders next year.
Second grade level books are needed for my students so that they have appropriate choices in my classroom library.
. I envision my new classroom with a cozy reading corner with soft lighting and comfortable chairs where they can sit and read. My current collection of classroom books is much too easy for children in second grade. I would love some new choices for my future super second graders!
