They love coming to school and most of them don't want to leave for breaks. I had one student who came in the first day of school and told me they hate school. By Fall break, a month and a half later, they asked if we really had to go on break, because they wanted to stay and keep learning over the break!
My students are very hands on learners and love learning from each other.
I have a group of young gentlemen that have a first, 2 second and one third grade. The second and third graders were learning about multiplication. When I was working with the first grader, I discovered that he had learned multiplication from class mates! It always amazes me how much my students learn from each other!
My Project
Since my students are 1st-3rd graders, they learn the best through their hands. They love being able to manipulate different objects to aid in their understanding of math concepts! I have seen many a "light bulb" moment through the use of manipulatives!
My students absolutely love Science and learning about the whys and hows of what makes our world special!
Two of their favorite areas of study is the Animal Kingdom and Earth Science! Part of our program involves teaching research techniques for all ages. I always have students who will choose to complete a writing project by researching an animal that we have studied. I have one student who struggles with reading and doesn't like to read, but when I invite them to learn about an animal, they come rushing over and will work really hard on their reading, because they are learning about animals.
