My Students
About 90 percent of my students come from economically disadvantaged households. Many struggle with language development and literacy, and about half are second language learners.
My students are eager to learn more about the world around them, but most don't have the experiences or tools necessary to do this.
They need a way to learn about places, people, and scientific concepts in a meaningful way, while building vocabulary and literacy.
My students are at all levels of academic achievement, and they all enjoy learning. We would love to have exciting materials that will help us achieve this goal!
My Project
Super Science Magazines will be used to reinforce concepts that we teach in science class. Many of my students don't have a lot of reading materials at home. This is something they can take home to share their excitement about learning with their families, after we use them at school.
Super Science Magazines will give my students a fun and exciting resource to help them build vocabulary and language skills.
Many of our students are second language learners. The photographs and other graphics in the magazines will support their understanding of science concepts and encourage a life long love of science.
