This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a low-income/high poverty school where children come from diverse backgrounds. My sixth graders come to school full of energy and ready to take on any challenge I present them.
Our sixth grade is comprised of 55 amazing students who receive free or reduced price lunch.
Our school serves a population of Pre-K to 8th grade. We have an amazing staff that provides rigorous academics, a variety of after-school activities, and a safe learning environment. Our school has made huge gains in academics this past year because of our staff's commitment to utilizing the best practices in class. Our goal is to provide our students with the knowledge necessary for them to be successful in the future.
My Project
I would like to subscribe to a Scholastic magazine for my sixth grade classroom. The addition of Super Science to my curriculum will enhance their exposure to all aspects of science. The magazine includes STEM activities which will blend perfectly with our current STEM program.
Struggling readers will find Super Science engaging with the graphics and be more engaged in the learning process.
I feel it is important to provide my students with a print rich classroom and Super Science will allow me to do that! My goal is to reach all students regardless of the reading ability through using Super Science magazine.
