Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have extraordinary minds and are attempting to thrive in less than extraordinary living conditions. In this day in age where we struggle to praise diversity, we embrace our differences and celebrate all things that make us unique. We are building a community and a family where we lift each other up, and not tear each other down. Our school has 100% free and reduced-price breakfasts and lunch. And when living in a little community by the Colorado River with not many resources or places to explore it is important to empower these students and all students with a good understanding of what the world has to offer.
My Project
My students are in need of school supplies and learning resources to help our classroom environment flourish to its full potential. My students do not have the ability to provide a lot of the supplies that are needed to have the opportunity to feel welcome and be successful in the classroom. Without learning aids (math, grammar, and reading posters) pencils, markers and editing pens for reading instruction my students would be not as successful as they could be. The StoryWorks magazines will be used in our small group instruction as will the posters, timer, and pencils. We also would like to have a schedule pocket chart because I write the schedule for the year on the board and it constantly gets erased. We are eternally grateful for your support of our learning community!
