Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a public, charter school. I have a bright and eager to learn group of first-grade students.
My school has a diverse population of students, many of whom receive free or reduced-cost lunch.
A large proportion of students speak English as a Second Language. Many students do not have the ability to bring in basic supplies to share in the classroom. Many of my students have ADD and ADHD and would benefit from having these items in our classroom as well. They are so excited to come to school each and every day.
My Project
My students need a class subscription for Scholastic News (grade 1 edition) and Scholastic Science Spin. These magazines connect current events to the first-grade curriculum while helping students practice their reading skills.
These magazines will enhance our learning experience by giving us an interesting resource to get students excited about learning.
Scholastic News and Science Spin will help keep students excited about reading nonfiction articles as well as keep them up to date with current events. There are also great online teaching tools and videos that come with the subscription to these weekly magazines. The students in my classroom will be excited to have access to stay up to date on current events.
