Super Poetry Books

My students need 14 poetry books to read so they can write great poems!

My Students

I want my students to be amazing readers and writers. It's hard to write really great poetry without really great examples of poems!

My students live in a high-poverty area of Washington State.

We have a very high percentage of free and reduced lunches. That doesn't mean my students aren't capable of learning! They are smart and funny. My students need books of poetry so they can see really great examples of poems.

My Project

Some of the books are by the famous poet, Jack Prelutsky. His poems are laugh-out-loud funny and easy to relate to! Other poetry books are in both Spanish and English. Imagine how wonderful my bilingual students will feel, seeing their language honored and accepted in this way.

My students need to become better readers and writers.

In order to do this, I need to provide them with high-quality, high-interest books and materials. Specifically, I would love for my students to read great poetry so they can write great poetry!
