Super Heroes to the Rescue

My students need 40 high interest superhero books such as five each of I Am Superman, BatMan Classic and Dark Knight: Batman's Friends and Foes to become engaged in reading.

My Students

We need super heroes-books that is! My students need highly engaging and motivating books to help them build confidence as readers.

My students are eager and excited learners.

They come to school every day ready to face the challenge of reading. Many of them already face large challenges: coming from low income homes, learning English, and qualifying for Special Education. Although they struggle with reading, just like their beloved superheroes, they never give up.

My Project

My students need 40 high interest superhero books such as five each of I Am Superman, BatMan Classic and Dark Knight: Batman's Friends and Foes to become engaged in reading. I am requesting low level readers in which the main character is a super hero. My struggling students will be so motivated to read books about Superman, Batman and Spiderman, not even kryptonite could keep them from improving their reading! These books are just at their level, allowing them to feel successful.

Reading is fundamental.

Enjoying reading and feeling successful at it early on helps build later success. Providing my students with motivating super hero books at their level will help give them success now in reading so they can be successful later.
