I teach a lively group of 18 Kindergarten students who are very active and excited to learn. My students are in our classroom for most of the day as we are engaged in literacy, math, science and social studies activities.
My 18 students have very different styles of learning, but the one thing all my kiddos have in common is the desire for choice throughout their day.
My students learn best when they play games and use hands on materials.
My Project
The research shows our smallest children benefit from flexible seating. My students will be able to choose the seat that suits them best each and every day. I have some children who need to build core strength and relieve anxiety by moving. They will love to use the wobble stools and wobble cushions. The clip boards will be perfect for children who want to sit on the carpet and work. All of these seats and clip boards will be used throughout the school day as they are involved in literacy, math, science and social studies. I think this would provide an amazing sense of calm throughout the room and make a difference for children with behavior problems who feel like they are “stuck” in a traditional chair all day!
