My Students

My students come from a low-income community with families who have immigrated from their country in order to make a better life for their children.

In our Title I school, all of my students are entitled to free breakfast and lunch to ensure they never go hungry and receive nutrition needed for a young child to grow.

My students are eager to learn in all academic areas and try their best to immerse themselves in all subject matters, especially STEAM.

My Project

My goal is to use these Kano hands-on kits to build on my students coding knowledge and program games, animations and digital instruments. I will use these materials to supplement my curriculum where students can create their own code and program their these devices to do awesome things that they can share with their classmates. According to an article in Edutopia titled, "Add Coding to Your Elementary Curriculum, Right Now", "Early exposure to coding helps teach children how important it is to understand computers as the valuable tools they are rather than merely fun playthings." I want my students to begin understanding that they can be makers rather than just users. The whole point of a STEM toy is not only foster learning but to also allow a child’s skills and knowledge to grow while they play. My students are ready PLAY!
