This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very active and energetic first graders that enjoy learning and creating. We have a wide range of cultures and socioeconomic households in our community. Because of this, many students receive free lunch; therefore, making it difficult to have the income to purchase books, resources, classroom materials, and everyday items. We have approximately 85% free and reduced price lunch students, which also qualifies us for a grant for free lunch for all students. My students are very eager to learn and are a joy to teach.
My Project
Having supplies like card stock, pens, markers, erasers, and binder clips help a classroom to be more organized and more creative. Colored card stock can be used to make reading and math games. These activities will help my class have fun learning experiences during center time. Students will rotate through the different centers to increase their knowledge of the subject areas while having fun. These interactive centers will also help my students work on their peer interaction. Learning to take turns and work together is another important skill my students will learn through these centers. My students learn best with hands-on activities and these centers will deliver exactly what they need. Centers in the classroom will foster independence and feelings of competence in my students. These centers are to be used for all subjects-- reading, writing, math, social studies, and science! Please help my students learn with hands-on materials!
