My Students
I teach at a fantastic residential neighborhood elementary school that is known for being highly-preforming and diverse in its make-up. My class consists of 29 students that hail from various backgrounds, but come together to form a single, cohesive group that has great goals and dreams for the time we're spending together in the fifth grade.
So far this school year, we've been able to delve in to Geography, create life-size European Explorers, and take a good, hard look at close reading, along with dancing some of our favorite Fort Nite dances.
My Project
By including books specifically focusing on less represented populations of students, like the book I Am Enough and Bud, Not Buddy, I want to make sure that every student has at least one book in our classroom library that they can identify with and make a personal connection with.
These books will only help my students grow into becoming strong, well-rounded individuals. Additionally, I want to include books that focus specifically on the sciences, like the book Hidden Figures, and how they can relate to our current educational focuses to further their understanding on material taught in our classroom setting.
