My Students
"Ms. V can I please go to the library to get a book?" This is probably my favorite sentence to hear from my second grade superheroes. I teach 2nd Grade Reading and Language Arts to 45 diverse, funny, sweet, and simply AMAZING kids.
Unfortunately these students live in less than ideal conditions, and face many adversities we can't even begin to imagine.
This does not stop my kids from coming in every day and trying their best to become better readers. Some of them have been in foster care, or are being raised by other family members because their parents are not around to care for them. Through all this, I want to ensure that when they come into my room they know they are safe, love, respected, and challenged to become the best version of themselves through reading.
I want to make sure they receive the best education and experiences that I can provide during their time with me. They love to learn and get excited to share what they've learned with me as well as with each other. Thank you for your time.

My Project
Hi! Today I am requesting five tablets for my students. These tablets will provide a myriad of opportunities for them. The range of my students reading levels go from pre-readers to students who are reading at a fourth grade level. This means, that despite my best efforts, there are not enough books for all the students in the various levels to find an appropriate book to read in our class libraby.
These tablets will provide my readers with ebooks, as well as phonics apps, for those that are still in the learning process.
At the moment we have laptops that are designated for the district required program they must complete. With this tablet the students will be able to use technology for more than one program. They will be able to read books online, as well as learn to research topics for our I.B. units. I know that it is a lot of money, but any amount you can donate will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for helping my students receive the education they deserve.
