Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We're all reading teachers! Even though I teach our 6th grade math curriculum, much reading goes on in my class with my students.
I teach at a Title I school where the majority of our students speak English as a second language. Our faculty has worked very hard through the years trying to instill a love for reading in our students. This year, that was very evident! Students from all grades will visit many teachers in the school in search of books to read. It is truly amazing! I want my classroom library to grow so that ALL my students, past, present, & future, have the opportunities to read many different genres of books.
Having a class set of the SSS books would be a wonderful addition to my small, but growing classroom library. Our school also has an incentive for reading all 15 of the SSS books. Every student that does read the entire list of books gets treated to lunch with some of our faculty at a historic building in our town. This year, each student also received a book & a gift card to a book store.
With your help, my students & many students in the future will be able to improve both their reading and their comprehension skills with these Sunshine State books. Our country needs to continue working hard to increase our literacy rate. Here is a great way to start!
