A brand new PE class started at our high school three weeks ago that combines neurotypical students and students with special needs in one class. We have so many signed up that we have one class this fall and a new class in the spring.
The class allows students with special needs to participate in all the PE activities with peer partners, so we need adaptive equipment to keep everyone safe while as well as allow students who struggle with fine and gross motor skills better access to the activities.
The class also encourages neurotypical students to take leadership roles, be positive role models, and encourage students with special needs to participate in PE to the best of their abilities.
