My students lead active lives in a rural setting. Many of them have horses or work on family farms. They are curious about the world around them and love doing projects. They particularly enjoyed dissecting frogs in science class last year.
My students try to act cool and grown up, but they still get blown away by the wonders of science.
It is incredibly fulfilling to see magic in their eyes when they discover something new. My students, in general, have not had access to extravagant field trips or state-of-the-art equipment. I hope to provide a safe classroom environment for them to explore the curiosities that surround them.
Even though they complain as teenagers do, I know they are hungry to learn.
My Project
As we know, climate change is the defining problem for our student's generation. These supplies will provide an interdisciplinary platform for them to learn what renewable energy is and how to track the weather. As an added bonus they will be able to charge their devices from our own power station!
Students will learn how to create clean energy from the sun and track the weather!
This project will allow students in Maker and Science class to develop skills in construction, electronics, and data collection/analysis. They will learn what an inverter is, how batteries work, and there role in generating usable energy for our school.
