This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The kindergarten and PK teachers at our elementary school conduct visits in the summer to begin building a strong relationship and partnership with our students’ families. Every student gets a popsicle, a book, and a visit from their teacher and the principal. These visits are also designed to put families’ fears at ease, discuss any questions they have about the school, and share their children’s needs and interests. We have done this for 13 years and it is the foundation of our efforts to create a positive culture in the school. As budgets have been reduced and costs of items increasing, we are seeking out individuals to help us continue this important program.
