I teach awesome 2nd graders! We build community and treat each other like a class family. Our school is a safe, family-friendly school. We are a Title I school with over 82% on free or reduced lunch. Our school is diverse and inclusive of many different cultures.
Second graders love to learn!
Some of my students' favorite things to do include reading, writing stories, and playing math games. My students are learning many positive character traits such as perseverance, cooperation, and being forgiving of others when they make mistakes.
We believe in getting better and better every day!
My Project
I have found that many of my students (since they are low income) do not have books of their own at home. Students need access to books to read at home. This is especially true over the summer weeks. If students do not read, they will "slide back" in their reading skills due to lack of practice.
My goal is to send students home with some books that they will enjoy reading over the summer.
With your help, we can accomplish this!
Scholastic Book Clubs has put together some of their most popular books into packs of 20 at a discount. I have put 4 packs in my cart for this project. If this project is funded, I will be able to send each student home with 3 to 4 books of their very own to read and enjoy throughout the summer days.
