My students need books to read over the summer. I'm trying to get novels for all my ELA students to take home to read over the summer.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach two English Language Arts classes for 2nd grade and every day is a new adventure. In my classroom, I strive to create an environment where students are engaged and think critically.
My students are always eager and ready to learn for the day.
100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our students come from a variety of different backgrounds, experiences, and opportunities. Our diversity allows us to have a wide array of experiences which can be drawn upon by creating an engaging classroom environment where all students are able to focus and thrive. Student success is our number one priority.
Many of my students enjoying reading and are always asking for silent reading time. I love to see their excitement for reading and they are always motivating me to be the best I can because they deserve the best!
My Project
It is proven that students who do not read over the summer experience the summer slide. The summer slide is when students lose information during their break. Our students work so hard all year, I would hate for them to lose anything over the summer because they do not have access to books. My students love the Magic Tree House series. They are always asking to borrow my Magic Tree House books to read on their own.
By donating to our classroom you would be helping our students have access to books over the summer.
3rd grade is now a very important year with testing and more advance material. All students should have access to good books in the summer so they can keep growing.
As the late Jackie Kennedy said "There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is best of all." We can not do this without access to books.
