Summer Makers Need to Make, Make, Make, Make, Make!
My students need supplies such as wooden craft sticks, pom poms, googly eyes, duct tape, glue, and 3D pen filament to help replenish our Library Makerspace.
Seventh and 8th grade students at NJHS are some of the most innovative and creative students I have met. They thrive on the challenges of creating and inventing with whatever materials they can find in our library Makerspace. Whether using duct tape or small motors, they crave the opportunity to make.
A characteristic of this age group that I particularly love is their desire to challenge and prove themselves.
They want to create projects which are unique, projects that fit their personality projects that get attention.
My Project
What do duct tape, googly eyes, wooden craft sticks, and 3D filament have in common? They all belong in a Library Makerspace! These items will be used to replenish consumables our library Makerspace needs for our makers for summer school.
We are excited that our Library Learning Commons Makerspace will be open to our Makers this summer during summer school!
We need to prepare for a summer full of discovering, innovating and inventing by stocking up our Makerspace with items our students need to express their creativity.
We plan to cover many learning objectives this summer with making being the focus. Perhaps it's creating a puppet for green screen production to help with learning about character; maybe it's building a robot to complete a STEM project the science teacher assigns; or perhaps it is simply using the 3D pen to put the finishing touches on a gift for dad; whatever our students learning outcomes need to be, students will be able to use the library Makerspace is to unleash their creativity this summer.
Thanks for helping us replenish our Makerspace for summer school creative fun and learning.
