Our center is a five star Step Up to Quality center. Our Head Start program provides early educational experiences for children at or below the poverty level. The children may come from low-income backgrounds, but they are rich in the love of their families. Our center goes above and beyond to build a strong bond between the child and their families. We not only teach the child, but we also empower the families and, in doing so, we see growth, not only in the child but in the family as well. Our children are learning how to better our future.
My Project
I want to engage the parents in the summer fun with their children. I am going to encourage the families to come and participate in summer fun crafts with their child at the center. I would like to have a coffee pot for the parents that need that extra boost to get them going. Along with a waffle maker to feed them breakfast for some special Mom and Dad days we have planned. The electric skillet will allow us to cook up hot dogs for evening events as well as the special BBQ days we have planned for the July 4th holiday. Providing these utensils would allow for the opportunity to bring families together in the center as food brings people together.
Crafting in the summer leaves memorable memories the children will have with them in their many years to come.
The families will be able to work with their parents on creating summer crafts such as tie die t-shirts as well as making memories. The children will be able to use the visors, aprons, totes, and flashlights for our themed summer weeks. the children will have the materials they can take home and use with their families after we have used them at the center.
I added two shower curtains and a shower rod to place in the bathroom for privacy while allow other children to wash hands at the same time. The cleaner is to help with the smell of the bathroom as well.
