Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This past year has truly been a blessing to be able to be back in the classroom full time with kids - so much so that I will be teaching summer school! I am very excited to be able to branch out and spend part of my summer teaching a lively group of second graders! I am excited to try out a new grade level and to help kids gain confidence in their areas of need - good majority needing lot of reinforcement of math concepts.
More than 75% of my school's population is comprised of those from a lower socio-economic status and it is important that our students have engaging activities available to them.
One of the biggest challenges in the classroom this year is being able to reach each kid at the level they are at instead of forcing them to be on grade level with little to no reinforcement of previous skills, summer school is a great opportunity to be able to work one on one and to strengthen basic skills.
The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase supplemental materials to our curriculum that will engage and challenge each student. My supplemental resources are geared towards 6th grade. I am especially looking forward to being able to purchase center activities, spiral reviews for math and addition/subtraction fluency practice activities.
