This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has approximately 600 students and twenty-five classrooms ranging from Kindergarten to Fifth grade. Ninety-one percent of students are on free lunch assistance with single-parent families. The average salary in their homes is considerably below the national average. My slogan is "Fun in One.” I teach through my slogan. The nurturing environment they receive in my classroom for 180 days is just as important as the one they receive at home. We strive to SOAR every day at our school. Help us be better students every day.

My Project

The vacuum and filters will keep our new 9 x 12 primary color rug clean. We recently were awarded a 9x12 primary colored rug that allows 30 students their own square to sit in during whole group and spread out during our Reading rotations and read and do our word work. The sand from the playground, the streets, and various dirt needs to be cleaned daily. Our custodial staff vacuums once a week and you might think that is enough. It is not when you are sitting trying to read a super book and sand is digging into your bottom.
