Sucess for Seniors! AP English Lit Study Guides

We need AP English study guides that each student can write in and make their own. Additionally, the flashcards will be used as a daily warm-up to review key concepts that are also on the AP Exam.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

Dr. Martin Luther King once said, "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."

My students are from South Los Angeles County, the majority of them are Latinos, many are second language learners, and they attend a high school with a population of nearly 3000 students. The following students helped in writing this project: Aliana, Juan, Vicky, Tanairy, Nicole, Anthony, Crystal, and Jovany.

I am requesting 55 AP study guides, one for each student in my AP Lit class. Students will be given their own book to mark, annotate, and complete practice tests as they prep for the big exam. Students will use the study guides to help them be familiar with the testing style and format used by The College Board for the Advanced Placement test in May. My AP students are from a lower socio-economic community where most are the first in their family to graduate from high school, and most hope to go on to college.

Passing their AP exams allows them to test out of their GE courses thereby saving them both money and time once they start their college education.

This would be a huge advantage that I hope for them to earn for themselves.

In Their Own Words

Receiving new study guides will allow us to reach a new understanding of the subjects at hand and they will help all of us succeed in passing the AP English Language Exam. We will be able to utilize the multiple practice tests that come with the study guides, especially to study and prepare for the AP exam by prepping for the multiple choice part of the exam. A problem that this project will solve is having more recognition with the test and providing more confidence we will all be able to know what to expect from the real exam.

We will create the most of this leadership opportunity by showing our peers how to prepare and study for the AP exam through the use of the study guides. We will take advantage of this project by letting others know how important the study guides are and the effect they will have on our testing skills. We will also make sure everyone takes advantage of what is given to them because of the impact the study guides serve as many students do not have study guides to prepare for the AP exam Our teacher will either help us in groups or individually depending on the number of students that need help on a particular thing. We will be helping each other in groups while using the study guides and explaining our own thoughts towards the practice test. We will help everyone succeed on the test by practicing with our own study guide.

This project is important to my school because it helps out the students that struggle preparing for the AP exam. The study guide provides us a practice test that gives us an insight of how the actual AP exams are and as well as the time as teachers will give us a limited amount of time and by this, we will also be improving our endurance. The study guides will solve the problem of not knowing how to study or what to study. The study guides will include skills and techniques that can be useful to the student's advantage that they can practice, get better at using them and use them in the exam. They will also prepare us with reading and writing techniques that could greatly benefit us in the future even after when we are done taking all these tests like on an essay for a college class.
