Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have the pleasure of working with a great group of 5th graders from various backgrounds and different abilities. My students are all working remotely with varying degrees of success. They continue to put forth excellent effort despite the challenges they face daily. My students' parents work outside of the home because they work in the service industry and with healthcare. Some of my students need additional assistance with their work. They have been dealing with issues that are causing lots of stress on them and their families. The end of the year is approaching. I usually surprise my students with a classroom gift. I want to provide them with an exclusive gift this year as well.

My Project

The Summer Bridges work will allow my students to continue to practice the skills they learned in all subject areas this summer. They are using Chromebooks now; however; students will return their devices during the second week of June. The Bridges program will allow for additional practice. The program is organized and creatively mapped out for the entire summer. This will assist parents in providing guided instruction in a user-friendly manner for their scholars.

The clipboards will be a gift to my students.

I will personalize the clipboards so that they have a tool to use for years to come.
