My students need homework folders, book bins, privacy partitions, and seat cushions to help them stay organized, responsible, and more focused in class in order for them to be successful students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a low income district. Many of the students' families don't have enough money to buy school supplies or even appropriate clothing for their children. 2/3 of the students in this school are Hispanic. Very few of these students' parents speak English, which makes it difficult to help with reading or any of their school work. Students' grades and academics suffer due to this.
Many of my students are eager and enthusiastic when it comes to learning and they have the potential to do very well.
However, they are lacking in a lot of 21st century skills. A lot of the families can not afford computers in their homes and let's face it, in this day and age, computers are a a necessity in education. I try to make learning fun for them through different songs and activities. Many of them do not get life experiences outside of school, so I try to bring the fun to them and gain a life long learner.
My Project
Flexible seating in a classroom allows the students to make their own choices. These cushions will help the students to be responsible and comfortable in the classroom. They will also help any student get all of their wiggles and silliness out with the cushions. The privacy partitions will allow students their own privacy on their desks making sure that no one can see their work or answers when test taking. Many students can be unsure of themselves at times and having their own privacy can give them more confidence in their work. Also, Homework folders will keep them more organized.
