This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 4th through 7th graders who are excited to learn more about reading and math each day. I am an interventionist and serve the lowest performing 4th-7th graders in both math and ELA. I additionally serve as an advisor for the girls 6th and 7th grade advisories and have a group of girls focused on learning about self-reliance, life skills, and cooperative sports.
My kids have so much potential for growth and work hard to achieve their goals for this year and for their futures.
My students deserve the opportunity to grow in many ways that match their exact needs in order to bring them to grade level. A majority of my students are low-income and all receive free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
My students have small group instruction everyday and in math we will be able to show our thinking on white boards with our new white board markers! The markers will give all of my students to master the learning targets through independent practice. These new novels will also spark excitement in reading for our upper elementary schoolers and middle schoolers.
White boards markers will allow my groups to meet in any location and easily bring our tools with us.
Post its will allow my kids to note their thinking while reading during group and to submit questions about what they are reading.
