My Students

Kindergarten is the absolute best place to be! Everything is new and exciting for them. For me, the fantastic part is that I take part in setting the tone for how they feel about these first years at school.

My class is constantly asking questions and seeking answers through books.

It amazes me how hard they work as we practice their English Language Arts skills. They love being together and they are great at helping one another as they continue to become better readers.

My Project

My students crave books that they are able to read. The comment that I often hear from them is that they want to read like their older siblings, parents, and friends. They come to kindergarten expecting to learn how to complete this amazing skill that they've seen others do and can sometimes be overwhelmed by all the steps involved in reading a book.

I love leveled readers because they give my students the skills they require to become independent and confident readers.

Our classroom has some leveled readers but not enough for each student. This project will help us reach our goal of having a variety of leveled readers that students will want to pick up to practice reading.
